Tomfest Show Was Brilliant

We packed up the crew (Rachel and our two kids) and road help Nicholas Young and headed down to Tomfest to give them a taste of some Electro Soul. Big thanks also to Theory Hazit who came up from Portland to back me up live on the decks.Despite an insanely small space to work with- we had the peoples grinning, bobbing, and gasping during the show. Some of the comments throughout the festival:"You Killed It!! I thought my neck was going to snap off" -Seth (after the show)"This is really great- I wish my daughter listened to this" -Sergeant Rob Skeens"Bro, that was sick" -TheoryThanks to everyone who attended the show, bought a CD, came away with a T-shirt, or just enjoyed listening to "Essays and Ear Candy" at our Merch table.

Sorry for the radio silence. I've been locked in my studio, with my wife sliding food under the door 'til the album was finished. There's a lot of news to share with you and I'll be posting often over the next few weeks . Mastering of the album will hopefully begin soon and the album will be released September 2 through Datanaut Records. Ten songs and the album finishes as strong as it starts. Over the next couple months, this site will also get a significant facelift. Check back often.

I just figured out that there was a typo in the configuration of my mail server (or something along those lines) and I wasn't quick to notice due to the fact that I still receive alot of email (including music-related stuff) at my other email. Sorry! It's working now- so you're welcome to drop me a line!

Labour of Love and Music Contest

Over at Cyndustries they are hosting a music contest and giving away a beautiful Zeroscillator synthesizer to the winner. With the theme for the contest being "War & Peace" and having a piece that I was working on about soldiers and courage- I decided to mix together a 3 minute piece (the final track will probably be significantly longer) and submit it. To vote for me go to the contest page and look for "Labour of Love [Cyndustry Edit] about halfway down the page, click beside the 1 for a first-place vote and don't forget to submit the vote at the bottom of the page. While you're there take a listen to the other great songs- many of which have beatiful, bubbling electronics and synthwork. And of course- ENJOY THE FREE TRACK!

Happy New Year everyone! The new track is finished and I'll be posting a sample over the next few days. It's a vocally rich track that starts with a pseudo-dub feel before ramping up the energy. An email is going out to all those who have purchased the 2 song demo with a link for downloading the new song for free. Thanks for your support! I'm now transitioning to the 3 song demo and will hopefully have those available in a week or so- price is $5.

F.A.Q.

What defines the music of Bishop & Mulholland?Cheeky and prodigious synth lines that replay in your head; lyrics that touch the imagination as much as the intellect; vocals that rasp and trip and song structure that is both quirky and satisfying. Where did the name "Bishop & Mulholland" come from? The name was formed some time ago. It refers to the twin substances of man- body and soul; with one name meant to evoke the idea of our souls- Bishop and the other, the idea of our bodies- Mulholland. What genre of music is it?Trip-hop; big beat; electronica; take your pick. I like to use the moniker "electro soul" or "digital pop" to give people an idea of both the vocal nature of the music as well as the strongly electronic feel.
